My name is Corey Beckford, and I am currently a doctoral student in Philosophy at the City University of New York, Graduate Center. I received my BA in Philosophy from Lake Forest College in 2019, and my MA from Brandeis University in 2021.

My main area of specialization is in Kant’s aesthetics, especially environmental aesthetics. I also specialize in African-American Philosophy with an emphasize on the work of Alain Leroy Locke, and William H. Ferris.

My areas of competency include: Phenomenology of Stand-up Comedy; Critical Race Theory (particularly the work of Derrick Bell, Jr., and the intersection between legal narrative and aesthetics); and Philosophy of Law. Below you’ll find some selections from my C.V. If you would like a copy of my C.V., or would like to chat about any of the selections below, please ask!
